This is an interesting watch, from Senator David Norris. He seems to debunk much of what you’ve probably heard said about his views on the issues. They’re hardly the pressing issues of the day, granted.

The problem in Ireland is always the same: if you don’t vote for this ego maniac the alternatives are not much better. Anyone you vote for in this election will be some self serving gombeen. I’d still vote for Norris just because he’s gay. I’d also vote for him because it looks like the political assassins have tried to manipulate the outcome by trawling through old interviews. That painted bag Mary Kenny was the latest having a go over his opinions of Herr Ratzinger. It looks like the Vatican network has the knives out.
Some begrudgery on show in the comments here. The man has done a lot for Ireland and shown a lot of courage in his political life.
He’s been well paid for spending a very long holiday talking in the Seanad. I’ll vote for him but I wouldn’t be under any illusions about him. Central to everything he’s done has been himself. Everyone in the Seanad is a freeloader. The presidential election ballot papers should include the option of abolishing the office. That would save some much needed money and result in one less political hypocrite living on the public purse.
