Great videos here from Youtuber Sebastian Dooris.

In recent weeks I’ve noticed a man sitting on the O’Connell Bridge most days joined by a dog, which isn’t at all unusual on the streets of Dublin. What is unusual however is the fact that alongside the dog is a rabbit.

These videos have surfaced from yesterday showing the man retriving the rabbit from the River Liffey. Just another day at O’Connell Bridge eh?

This one has been getting better and better in recent seasons.

While the ultra scene in Ireland ain’t what she used to be, with the SRFC Ultras and Shed End Invincibles both marking ten years this year the two groups have been among the most active on the island. I arrived into Tallaght Stadium seconds before kick off and both sides of the stadium were prepared. The home supporters raised a ‘ONE LOVE’ banner, while in our end dozens of streamers rained down onto the pitch, in red, white and yellow. Classic and simple, and visually as good as it gets.

Second half displays are to be expected with two groups like this coming head to head, and when the teams re-emerged onto the pitch following half time these two efforts went up. The SRFC Ultras banner is a response to the ‘NEVER RELEGATED’ banner at St. Patrick’s, while the Shed End Invincibles banner pokes fun at the manner in which South Dublin County Council recently attempted to name a stand in Tallaght Stadium after Robbie Keane.

Isn’t football great?

A friend of mine, Keith, just began a new job today. He’s been elected head of communications with the Maynooth Student Union, meaning his job will entail getting the student newspaper and relevant guidebooks out to the student body.

As you’d expect in that line of work, there are some excellent archives about with great insight on student history and activism. On his first day in the job, he thought this worth sending along!

It’s from 1983, and is an excellent piece of social history, taken from the First Year Guidebook of the time. Joe Duffy’s time at USI was exciting and action packed, a long way removed from what one finds inside that union today it could be said!

Never mind.

Saint Patrick’s Athletic are off to play ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar on Thursday. Needless to say, I won’t be there. Part-timer that I am, it’s a bit much really. Thankfully, it looks like we will have an option beyond eating our nails glued to extratime.ie:

Supporters club have arranged for McDowells to stream the game Thursday evening live on the big screen. All pints only €3.50 for what’s sure to be a great night.

Excellent. The action begins at 7pm. Believe.

Sure they probably gave Padraig Pearse some grief outside the GPO too…..

Welcome back, Ding Dong Denny O’Reilly.

Great line in this one, about how the closest we’ve come to a social revolt was the anger over a handball in Paris. That’d be the Irish.

God, I love this. A nice nod to Roy Of The Rovers from Sligo, whom welcome Shamrock Rovers to the west on Friday.

They’re exciting times here on the southside of the Liffey, with both Shamrock Rovers and Saint Patrick’s Athletic flying high, and only a point between them. Pats fans have of course been here a few times in recent seasons with nothing to show for it, but we’ve been a joy to watch recently and we’ve had six victories in our last six away games, not to mention a great run at home.

While all sides have Europe on the mind, the most important game is always the next one. Roll on Friday.

Via Keep Going Sure It’s Grand Facebook.

Laura Whitmore wearing the great ‘Keep Going Sure It’s Grand’ effort on MTV, spreading the message to the British telly audiences that we’re open for business and all that. Pity she’s from Bray. The posters are showing up in a surprising selection of Dublin boozers, last spotted by us in L.Mulligans (Stoneybatter) and The Bernard Shaw (Portobello)

Shamrock Rovers have drawn Estonian side FC Flora Tallinn, and Saint Patrick’s Athletic are off to Iceland to play ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar. That’s their stadium above. Feck. For the northsiders at Dalymount, it’sv Sirogi of Bosnia or Olimpia Ljubijana of Slovenia. Not a single handy trip there for the capitals teams.

It’s looking like a wild one, keep an eye on extratime.ie during the day for more.

Ad for Infamous 2 computer game

This is the ad doing the rounds for upcoming computer game ‘Infamous 2’.

O’Connell Street a burning blaze, the spire split in half and poor Jim Larkin no more. This is the oddest computer game advertisement in a while. I like how they left the GPO alone, how sensitive of them.
