A cool snap of Rockin’ Kev from the Evening Herald dating back to 1976.
The text reads:
Dublin’s only genuine Teddy Boy, Kevin Connolly, keeps on rocking at the R. & R. Disco.
I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin at the Magnet reunion earlier this year. He’s still as sharply dressed as ever!

i remember seeing kev getting on the number 37 bus on blackhorse avenue in dublin 7 on a regular basis when i was going to school, that was back in 1975. he must have lived near me as i always saw him around the area. he always looked a cool dude and a sharp dresser. when i was a teenager back then he gave off an air of danger.
bitzy
you went to school??????
In The 80s Kev ran a rock and roll night on Capel Street , in John Treacys pub, does anyone know of any photos from then , ?

As an avid follower of the Rock ‘n Roll/ Rockabilly scene, Kev was pivotal in rejuvenating the whole genre back in the late 70’s. I myself was a ‘Ted’ back in ’78 & if it weren’t for Kevin providing wonderful Rockin hops in the Magnet pub on Pearce st alongside Dj ‘Stomping’ George, well!, the likelihood is that it may just have fizzled out!!!, bands like ‘Crazy Cavan’, Shaking Pyramids, the Blue Cats all brought the house down & instilled memories that can never be erased by time, now in my 50’s I still have an insatiable appetite for all things Rockin & am happy to say the scene has prospered tenfold because of people like Kevin. With Rockin Dublin, Belfast R ‘n Roll club & South East R’nR club to name a few still flying the flag, I can assure you, there is still gonna be ‘a whole lotta shakin goin on’…. Yee Haa!!!
