Never Again! Rally in memory of Toyosi, this Saturday
Stemming from a post on the Bohs forum, some of us have decided to form a League of Ireland block on the Toyosi demo this Saturday. We plan on meeting at the front doors of the Ambassador at 1:45 then marching up together. Wear colours and bring banners if thats your thing- This is about uniting against a racism that is alive and well in this country and is just brandishing its ugly head now… It has indeed invaded our League, as documented in a good article by Sporting Fingal’s Eamonn Zayed.
Now is as good a time as ever to unite on the issue. Racism in any form should not be tolerated at League of Ireland games, or anywhere.
Meet at the front of The Ambassador, this Saturday at 1:45… See you there!
Good idea, that. And don’t forget to support Sport Against Racism
in Ireland (SARI) which has been fighting for inter-cultural integration in Ireland for the past 12 years or so….
Did this idea come from thebohs.com? Well done to whoever put the idea forward.
Hoops, stripes, red and white or red and black- all goes out the window with this kind of stuff. Keep racism off our streets and out of our terraces and stands.
Well…. I guess it kinda came from me suggesting it and others agreeing with the idea thankfully. We could get a really big push on this tomorrow, it would surely be of some boost to the family, considering they had a Shels flag on the coffin…
Need to get it onto other clubs forums, yep. I posted it to a wide range of Facebook pages, good reaction.
The San Patricios, or ‘Junkies Column’ so far numbers me and Luke. GET IN!
Stuck it up on foot.ie
Hopefully there’ll be a decent turnout from football fans.
Will try and get it mentioned on the PA at tonights game in Tallaght Stadium.
That would be great… I sent word onto one Rovers lad I know, not sure if he put it on any forums or not. For while I have an inherant “dislike” for all things Rovers, Pats and Shels, we should all be united on the issue of anti- racism.
We’ve got a decent enough response so far, we’re purposely not posting any new threads today to ensure this is the first post anyone sees if they log on here. It would be great if we got 50 or so heads together. Mentioning it over the PA would be sure to double the numbers.
I should be there anyways. Have the Gardaí been made aware of this protest or are we just showing up?
Well it is an official march- The flyer above was designed by the Toyosi Memorial Committee. We’ll just be taking part in it “en-masse.”
Any pics of our contingent, the LFHR banner (apart from the one on your Facebook) and the NBB banner?
Have sent a few messages out to see, hopefully someone will come up with the goods!
