The band that keeps on giving. Twenty five years after recorded, a single from The Blades sees the light of day.
Building A Wasteland edit radio01-1 by Reekus Records
‘Building A Wasteland’ was recorded in 1985 by The Blades but was never released. The single was mastered in 2010 and an extended version will be available on a Reekus compilation of the early years which I believe is due out soon.
I’ve already written about The Blades twice on the blog. Check out Revelations (Of 45s) & The Blades Are Sharp.
Buy The Blades two album boxset, Those Were The Days, here at the Reekus Records website.
I recall Paul Cleary singing this post Blades with The Partisans , bass player played the intro on a didgeridoo. Christmas No.1 written all over it!
can you buy this?
it seems its going to be on a compilation in the new year, just to answer my own questio
I was a big fan of The Blades over here in the States in the mid 80’s and to my surprise just last night was pleased to find that iTunes had not only the “Last Man in Europe” LP but “Raytown Revisted” as well. I’ve spent the day playing “Downmarket” about 100 times in a bit of nostalgic fervor. Back in the day we considered them a “mod” band though I’m not sure why, regardless what always did it for me and still does, was their horn section.
This doesn’t sound very Blades to me. I think, like Neil, that I remember The Partisans playing this. I think it fits better in a Partisans set.
