Officially adopted in 1894… were the three golden rules; never say die, keep the ball on the floor and the best defence is attack
From “Bohemian Times.”

The Bohs team of 1890
I’m in the process of doing an article on the famous Bohemians FC team from the Golden era of the late twenties, so was delighted to find the above picture posted by JayCarax on thebohs.com forum; the picture is from 1890, the year of Bohemians birth. “The first set of jerseys worn were white with two red down stripes front and back, and a red star of David on the right breast, with black shorts.” Brilliant.
Whats the significance (if any) of the star of David?
According to one person, “I read on the scum forum that the red stripes represented the blood of Fenians through which the first Bohs players had to wade on their way to break the general strike, while they were mourning the death of Queen Victoria. The star of David was so they wouldn’t have to play games on a Saturday and the LOI has been cursed with Friday evening football ever since.”
Obviously not the above Ken!
The most likely explanation is that when the club formed, they went looking for the handiest kit available to them at the time. The Trinity College hurling team wore a similar kit at the time, when Edward Carson lined out for them!
(Cheers to Philo/TM/Slim Daedalus for the above)
Ha ha, very good chaps & there I was thinking there’s a touch of the Tottenhams about Bohs. Pity really because Alan sugar might have thrown a few bob their way.
