I finally tried a coffee from The Bald Barista, and can confirm that yes…it lives up to the hype. Buzz, take a bow. I truly recommend making the walk up to Aungier Street and trying one for yourself.
The Sweetest Thing, RIGHT at the bus stop on Bachelors Walk is also worth of note for an incredible Hot Chocolate.
While one of these two can expect to see me dip into the shrinking wallet once or twice a week (my ma bought me a Subbuteo flask two weeks back in an attempt to stop me spending so much money on coffee out), I was recently delighted to spot a €1 coffee on offer again. You might remember we posted about Nude, which was offering a take away or sit in coffee for a quid. Nude is dead and gone. The ever-changing convenience shop next to Molly Malone is offering a €1 take away coffee or hot chocolate. The coffee is obviously nothing to write home about, but hey- it’s a quid.
Anyone got anywhere to recommend for a good coffee in Dublin? Anywhere cheap(ish) or with decent offers?

I like Coffee 2 Go just off Upper Baggot Street:

They charge €2.40 for a nice latte.
Other (more economical) favorites for a € 2 takeaway coffee include Artizan on Upper Baggot and Roly’s in Ballsbridge Village. Many offer a better deal if you order a scone with your coffee.
Lots of great places doing decent coffee around my workplace which means I’m always out for a stroll on my break or running late getting in.
3fe in the Twisted Pepper do a very nice coffee – or rather range of coffees, the selection constantly changes. Very pleasant staff too which makes the somewhat intimidating menu easier.
The Italian place in the Epicurian does a good Americano too, as do the Bonza Pies people in the ILAC Centre. 9more lovely staff and often great tunes).
Deli-suz up on Mountjoy Street have good coffee and super sandwiches. their fried egg sandwich and cooffee make a good breakfast.
An even better breakfast can be had in the Lovin’ Spoon cafe. I go for the veggie option with the pancakes, homemade brown bread and their satisfyingly strong coffee.
Last place worth mentioning is the bagel joint in the ILAC Centre (can’t think of the name), there’s plently of other choices to be had around the area, some of which aren’t bad but none of which are great really..
Great Turkish coffee place in the Italian Quarter, opposite the bean bag place. My own favorite coffee always comes from Lilyputs in the bater, well worth a stroll over for a on a Sunday if you fancy a productive day. Cheap too at around 2.50 for what it is. Mannings on Thomas St is great as well. I’ve long knocked the urge to purchase those Insomina deals of a muffin and any hot beverage for three fifty on the head, sugary syrup based crap.
The Bernard Shaw, Richmond St/Camden St used to great take away coffee but the might scrapped it.
Tiesan Cafe on Harrington St, and it’s sister cafe upstairs in Filmbase, Temple Bar – excellent food and coffee
Listons – Camden St, great coffee, and really cheap. I think it’s only €1.50
Freedom Cafe at Dublin Food Co-Op, in behind Fallon’s pub in Christchurch.
