This June weather is great isn’t it? Hail, wind, then sunshine, then rain, some thunder and then sunshine again. Such was yesterday in Dublin. Hail in Swords, but to be fair, the City Centre wasn’t too bad and myself and the DFallon lad went for a leisurely stroll and took in grub and a few pints.
Boojum, for anyone who hasn’t yet sampled their delights, is quite simply the business and is becoming my favourite spot for a Saturday morning hungover burrito for breakfast. Located in Mick Wallace’s “Italian Quarter,” you can’t go too far wrong at €6 for an absolutely packed burrito with shredded beef, pinto beans, rice, salsa, guacamole and cheese. Throw in a bottle of beer and you’re laughing. I strongly advise people to give it a go.
Crossing the Millennium Bridge I spotted the below, a great, simple piece that I’d love to see more of in the city. The glut of bloody ugly buildings with boring facades that popped up over the last two decades could do with a bit of brightening up.
Below is proof that street art doesn’t need to be complicated to look good. Summed up the day too.
Apparently the below has been up for a good while, I only spotted it yesterday however. Good stuff.
Don’t know why I like the below snap, probably because its an alley in Dublin I’ve never seen before. Mad that its just off Dame Street and I never walked through it ’til yesterday. You think you know your city then…
At the end of a long walk, a long deserved pint. We’ve been in The Bull and Castle before, and were all of the opinion that its a lovely spot, and thankfully yesterday was no different. A few pints of the Trouble Brewing Stout for me and Metalman all round for the others, as we were joined by Kbranno and some colleagues of Donal’s. Four historians around a table fueled with alcohol always leads to interesting conversation. The stout was gorgeous, a little pricey at €4.60 but they do deals during the week.
Sunny Saturday afternoons in Dublin. Love them.
You should return to Cow’s Lane on a Saturday morning – that Temple Bar food market is actually very nice, a lot of organic stuff and lovely people.
