The cattle market down the docks? Surely he means the cattle boats. The cattle market was of the North Circular between Augrim st and Prussia street. The abattoir was opposite on Blackhorse Avene.
Ahhhhh I can still smell the paunches and see the rhythmic gentle movements of the offal as the truck made it’s way to the tip head..the purpley veined bladders peeking over the side-laces of the Bedford and the shine on the wet skins of innards fresh from disemboweled moo cows..Dublin in deh rare oul’ times!
