“The delights a stroll around Dublin can bring you. I’ve always carried my camera around with me, but have only recently started to take it out and not give a shite that I look like a tourist.”
These lines I used for the start of a similar piece around this time last year. Sometimes in Dublin, as a local, you don’t think to take pictures of the “touristy” things like statues and the like. Then you realise you’re missing out on oppurtunities like the below. And yes, the sky was this blue on Sunday morning amazingly enough!
I must have walked past the below stencil a hundred times on a tiny section of wall not far from Fitzsimons on the Quays. It is so inconspicuous, there is very little chance of seeing it unless you know its there. I still think its great though!
Moore Street wouldn’t be Moore Street without a marauding gang of pigeons. Walking down the Street on a sunny morning with nobody about gives a great sense of the real feeling of the city. Walking around any city at this time of the morning would give the same result I guess.
I took a detour out as far as the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham. DFallon has done a few great pieces on the grave of Volonel in the same grounds, and I’ve done a a bit on Dan Donnelly, the legendary fist fighter who is buried in the Paupers plot not to far away from where the below picture was taken. Below are the gravestones of dozens of British Soldiers who served in the Royal Hospital, along with a number who fought and died in Easter Week. I plan to do an article on those later!
The image below is od the new “Umbrellas” over meeting house square, you know, the ones in was considered worthwhile filling in a viking settlement site for…!
We have a penchant for taking photgraphs of stickers on this blog, and this piece will be no different as I’ll finish off this piece with two. One, the Celtic Mods sticker, I’ve never seen any other examples of before. If anyone has some, I’d be grateful if you’d send me a copy!
The “Love is Life” sticker below caught my eye. Either it was tactfully changed by a hopeless romantic, or its the the original message of the sticker, I don’t know, I like it…

Nice snaps hx. I carry the camera as often as I can around Dublin.
I reckoned most people would spot what was wrong in this one but it can take a few minutes.

Oh is that a photo of Jim McDaid, FXR?
Sorry Alan I’m not sure which photo you mean. If it’s of Jim McDaid I didn’t know because I don’t know who he is.
Bus/ Car head on collision?
Did you spot what was wrong? Look across the bridge and then ask how the car got to where it was. When I took the photo the woman driving was reversing frantically..
