Walking down Thomas Street, I couldn’t help but notice Foley’s Pharmacy’s have given over their windows to all sorts of interesting local history, including some great old newspaper reports on Bang Bang among other things. I don’t know if its only temporary or if they’ve always featured local history in their shop display window, but fair play and I certainly encourage it.

I don’t think it’s temporary. It’s been like that for a year or more. Every time I go by I get stuck at that window and forget where I was going.
I love walking by here. It’s nice to see something a little different on the street!
I used to get a cream/ointment in a chemist in Thomas St. It was for Eczema & very effective. This was in the 1980’s.The story was that a couple of Eastern European brothers had arrived in Dublin (early 20th century). They had recipes for cures that didn’t exist here. They made the medications & a chemist on Thomas St sold them. I don’t have the label now but would love to be able to get them for my niece whose baby now has Eczema. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
You can still get them in the pharmacy. They’re Mushatts creams. The remedies have stood the test of time.
Here’s a clip of the history from the RTE archives
