Out of boredom and/or chronic procrastination (bills to pay, things to sort out,) I went for a stroll around the city this evening with the camera; its surprising the things you see in this city that you don’t notice unless you’re looking for them. Below is Georges Street Arcade, the place where I acquired my first studded belt, in my mind, it made me punx and I still wear it to this day, ill fitting as it is.
Now you’d think that our comrades in Fade Street would flock to Dylan Haskins like scenesters to an overpriced Dubstep night in The Academy but not so. They’re all voting our Mannix.
Just another victim, Waterstones bookshop closed it’s doors for the last time a couple of weeks back with the loss of 46 jobs. It wasn’t somewhere I shopped too often, I prefer Chapters myself but a pity all the same.
I nearly walked past the above image but only copped it due to a couple of lads stood in the middle of the path looking at it. It looks unfinished but does make you turn your head! Below is a Coir poster from the last Lisbon referendum, still up and just around the corner from the Dáil. Remember Lisbon? That farce they made us vote twice on, promising jobs and prosperity in return for a yes vote? Well, over two years later and it seems that since then, the country has gone tits up. NICE WORK FOLKS.
And from the people that brought you Cóir, I give you this beauty. Outside our favourite Dublin shop, Mary Mediatrix on O’Connell Street, they have two posters proclaiming that “A vote for Labour is a vote for abortion.” Really?
Two images to end my time wasting antics. The above is the famous Neary’s Bar, Chatham Street. We’ve dropped in here before on a pubcrawl and were unanimous in our approval of the place. I just like the auld lad standing outside smoking, watching the world go by. Below is a just one of those things you have a split second to capture or the moment passes you by, hence why the shot isn’t the best. Walking up Grafton Street, I spotted a bloke oblivious to the world around him trimming his beard with a scissors in the window of a fancy ladies wear shop. I wasn’t the only one to cop it as a bloke with a bigger, fancier camera than mine was much more obvious in capturing his picture. Dublin, you have to love it.
Why don’t Cóir get fined for that?
They should… Maybe some well meaning citizen could drop the council a line? 🙂
It is true that the Labour party will legislate for abortion if in power. Without a referendum. Unless constitutionally challenged, then I think there would have to another referendum.
I pass through the georges st Arcade at least three times a week and have never, ever looked up at the ceiling. I will next time!
Ugh.

What’s going on in the last photo?
