….I have no comment on this video either way. I don’t know the ins and outs of the matter at all. I was glued to the monitor (that’s the 2011 way of saying ‘glued to the telly’) watching this but. It’s some street theatre connecting the CACI company who are involved in the census to some unsavory aspects of the occupation of Iraq. The reactions of some Dubliners are priceless.
It seems the standard approach to this street theatre is:
1) If you’re under 18, jump in front of the camera or wave at your mates who might see it on YouTube/the telly/wherever the footage is going.
2) If you’re bored, stop and engage in conversations that go nowhere. “Well what are ye doin?” “Are ye about terrorism or tourism?””come here are ya catholic?”
Fluoride in the water stuff or what do you think?

That’s Jim Corr under the mask.
It’s not tinfoil hat stuff. In so far as that is the company involved in Abu Ghraib and a lot of other torture camps, just wikipedia them. bloody strange that what in effect is the CIA’s private army has been put in charge of the Irish and UK census, peculiar is the least of it.
😀 Love it Ciaran.
Paul, here is an RT€ article worth a look:
Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Trade, Pádraig MacLochlainn, said that the company, CACI (UK), which has been awarded a €6m contract to work on the production and compilation of the Census, was also named in a US military report as having provided interrogation staff at Abu Ghraib.
Mr MacLochlainn said this revelation was ‘deeply worrying’.
He also said the CSO needed to address concerns that personal data collected by CACI may be accessible to the US government.
In a statement, the CSO said that following an open competitive tendering process, CACI (UK) Ltd had been contracted to work on the design, printing and scanning of the census forms.
The CSO said the company referred to by Sinn Féin was CACI (UK)Ltd’s American parent company, CACI International.
The CSO also said that assertions that census data may be accessible to the US government were ‘entirely inaccurate’, since all the census forms were confidential and would be processed on a closed CSO network.
It’s not just here. There are movements in Scotland and Canada against the same company. There are a fair few threads discussing the census and even a website;http://irishcensusscandal.org/dont-participate/#comment-17
Since 2007 I think the US in agreement with the EU has access to your travel information. The passport office, when I asked why I needed a biometric passport informed me that the US insists on one. I told them I’d no intention of ever visiting the US again as long as I lived but it made no difference.
I’m filling it out. I’m expecting a lot of visitors that night. It’ll be great: old friends who emigrated years ago, family from the States…it’s be a great party.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this. It is certainly an eye-opener.
